The Kitchen makeover…..No1….French France.
Back in August of last year, one of the things we did, while we were there, was to decorate the kitchen, in our new home……….. N01 French France.
This is what the kitchen looked like when we veiwed it, back in April last year.
The kitchen needed a bit of TLC……
I think it must have been decorated in the 1970’s…..
Hmmmmmmmmn……….. it wasn’t really me! But I could see potential…..
I set too, and over three days………I painted every surface………..
Would you like a sneeky peek?
By the time I had finished….there wasn’t anything in that kitchen, that wasn’t touched by me, and Annie Sloan!!
Oh I did feel better when “that” cooker was out…….
Mr Busy Bee and I carried it out of the house down the street, and into the hire car, and it went off to the re-cycling centre!!!
We were watched by lots of laughing French villagers!!
We bought a small table-top oven instead.
I painted all the tiles white, with 3 coats of tile paint. Why does everything take three coats of paint?
Do you like my vintage letters?…..Tres Bon!!
It took two coats of Farrow and Ball for the walls and the paintwork………..
All the cupboards were “Annied”, inside and out……God bless that woman!!
And I found some gorgeous vintage handles in a local Brocante…….
The “orange” worktop was painted in Annie Sloan graphite…….
And the plastic blue light fitting caught my paintbrush too!! ……
(I managed to find a gorgeous vintage glass shade at the Brocante, that was a perfect fit for it.)
It’s amazing how I can still manage to buy goodies, without speaking any French……
Where there’s is a will there’s a way!!!
I had taken my mum’s old sewing machine out to France with me on the van, and some grey gingham fabric, I found on Ebay.
I made up a new curtain to go under the sink and a couple more to cover the kitchen units, with no doors.
It was lovely as I felt using my mum’s machine, she was there to help me!
I even painted over the oragnge quarry tiles with Annie Sloan paint, and then used her floor sealer.
The jobs a goodun…………..What do you think?
